Jesse Boucher a former Tier II Junior A sniper was acquired at the trade deadline by Peter Deboer to increase the Rangers' depth up front. Boucher didn't have the scoring punch that he was thought to have possessed immediately however his speed and grit were a great asset to the Rangers' team down the stretch. Boucher was best known for being united with Matt Grennier and feisty winger: Adam Keefe on the Rangers' fourth line. They proved to be the most energetic Rangers' line at time. The line's spark often motivated the the other three lines above it in the depth chart. They also served as a rather frustrating line for opponents to play against. Boucher who only served one half of an OHL season during the tenure of his OHL eligability, was loured away from Tier II, where he was playing to maintain his US college scholarship eligability. On most OHL teams Boucher would have played on the third and if not second line. He would have also been used on the penalty kill for most OHL teams who do not enjoy the depth that the Rangers have. Looking forward, Boucher will have his work cut out
in terms of finding an overage roster spot during the 2003-'04 season.
Boucher could stand to be be more annoying to the opposition, much
like fellow college-bound 19 year old rookie: Alex Lalonde of Owen Sound.
