Pototschnik was a find by one of the Rangers' Toronto scouts. After a very strong season in Toronto playing with the Don Mills Flyers the Rangers opted to take their shot on the very slender winger. Pototschnik put together a very strong preseason scoring three times in the 6 games that he played in. Returnees: McGrath, Martynowski and Boucher outscored the rookie hopeful. Anthony got off to a very quick start when the regular season got started as well. He was quick to get the monkey off of his back during the home opener scoring his first and what would happen to be his only goal in a 10-4 blowout of the Plymouth Whalers. Pototschnik also had a very strong performance in Toronto while playing on a line with rookies: Mike Chmielewski and Mike Duco. Often appearances can be deceiving, most casual observers would remark that Pototschnik desperately needs to pack on some weight as he is one of the slimmest wingers to come through Kitchener in years. Despite playing at under 170 pounds, Pototschnik does not play a small man's game. He strides with power and scrapped with London heavyweight: Daniel Bois and also evidenced by his 157 minutes in penalties while playing in his hometown: Toronto during the 2002-'03 season where he scored 25 goals. With the Rangers incredible forward depth going into the 2004-'05 season, Pototschnik will face a rather insurmountable challenge in cracking the Rangers' roster, however there may be other teams lying in wait for access to his services..
