Throughout the season Peter showed flashes of something more exciting and promising, he'd make the moves but often lacked the finish, at times it was as if things were happening too quickly in his rookie year in the OHL. Franchin would obviously benefit greatly with age and improved strength going forward in his career, where he will excell as more of a power forward. As the Rangers headed into the playoffs, some of that untapped Franchin potential quickly started to pay out dividends. With injuries to Rangers' forwards mounting in the postseason, it marked increased ice time for Franchin who regularly only received 3rd and 4th line duties. After scoring in each of the Rangers' first three postseason matchups some members of the Rangers' media where nice enough to dub Franchin: Peter "Franchise" after he elevated his play, after scoring only 5 goals during a 63 game regular season. Obviously a stint at an NHL camp would stand to help further develop the Rangers' lanky forward. With the Rangers' still strong down the middle during the 2004-'05 season Franchin will probably have to adapt to a more perminant role on the wing should he desire a high amount of ice time. Prior to joining the Rangers, Franchin played
in Pickering and was a teammate of Carlo DiRienzo's in 2001-'02 with the
North York Bantam Rangers.
